Giving Credit Where Credit is Due
Accountability cuts both ways.
At The Public Record we are just as committed to recognizing good government as we are to exposing bad. When a Sharp County agency responds promptly to public records requests, opens its books willingly, communicates clearly with constituents, and conducts its business with honesty and integrity — that deserves to be recognized.
Public servants who do their jobs with transparency and professionalism deserve our respect and our gratitude. This page exists to give them both.
How It Works
When a government agency, elected official, or public office in Sharp County demonstrates exceptional transparency — whether by responding to a FOIA request ahead of schedule, livestreaming public meetings, publishing budgets proactively, or simply going above and beyond for the citizens they serve — we will recognize them here publicly.
Because good government should be celebrated just as loudly as bad government should be scrutinized.
The Standard
To earn a place on the Transparency Honor Roll an agency or official must demonstrate one or more of the following: prompt and complete response to public records requests, proactive publishing of budgets and meeting minutes, open and accessible public meetings, clear and honest communication with Sharp County residents, and a demonstrated commitment to serving the public interest over private or political interests.
Current Honor Roll
Recognitions will be posted as they are earned.
